Когда цинк был молодым (1953), не считался еще AW присадкой )
Most lubricating oils of today contain metal compounds, added as detergents, antioxidants. dispersing agents, or corrosion inhibitors. Control of the manufacturing process requires that each batch of these oils be carefully analyzed to assure proper additive concentration. Conventional chemical methods are time-consuming and tedious, often delaying the manufacturing process.
The method described in this paper makes use of the X-ray spectrograph for the determination of barium, calcium, and zinc additives in oils at concentrations of 0.01 to 1.0 per cent. Analysis for any one of these metal compounds can be completed in 5 to 10 minutes with accuracies comparable to the best chemical methods.
